Agriculture and climate change in India
India
is a large country with a diverse climate. Diverse
seasons mean diverse crops and farming systems.
There is a high dependency of agriculture on the
monsoon rains and a close link exists between
climate and water resources. Two thirds of the area
is rain dependent. Add to this picture the small
land holdings, poor coping mechanisms and low
penetration of risk management products.

Call For Proposals: Disaster Risk Reduction in South
Asia, January 16, 2012
START,
with funding from CDKN, is pleased to announce a
Call for Proposals (CFP) for research on integrating
disaster risk reduction and climate change
adaptation for resilient development in South Asia.
We expect to fund up to five research projects of a
maximum $100,000 USD for up to 19-months’ duration.
The geographical scope of the CFP is Bangladesh,
Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri
Lanka.
